The Alliance Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Tangie Newborn as Executive Director of the Alliance. Having recently served as Executive Director of the National Association of Black Journalists, Tangie replaced Founding Executive Director Roni Posner, who retired after an eight-year career with the Alliance. Tangie brings more than 25 years of nonprofit management experience to this assignment. She currently serves as an executive coach for the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) and The Center for Association Leadership, is an appointed member of the Center's Diversity Committee, and is co-author of Membership Operations, a core competency management series within ASAE.

Foundation Communications: The Grantee Perspective, released by The Center for Effective Philanthropy, analyzes survey results from nearly 17,000 grantees aims to answer how foundations can clearly communicate their goals. The report highlights how consistency of resources, quality of interactions and helpfulness of process are key factors in effective foundation communication. The Nonprofit Sector and the Federal Budget: Analysis of President Bush's FY 2007 Budget examines the impact the proposed budget will have on nonprofits in the next five years and provides a historical perspective on the findings. Practical approaches to achieving racial equity in the nonprofit sector are now available online from The Annie E. Casey Foundation. The "Race Matters Toolkit" provides tools and approaches for promoting equity, including organizational self-assessment, strategy development, and effective communication in nonprofits. The toolkit also offers more than a dozen fact sheets on topics such as education, health, and child welfare. Alliance for Nonprofit Management, through the Cultural Competency Initiative, is partnering with the Casey Foundation to offer resources and learning opportunities to capacity-building professionals and nonprofit leaders.
