Jeanne Bell of CompassPoint Appointed to the
Board of Directors of the Alliance for Nonprofit Management
Jeanne Bell, nationally known author and consultant, was recently appointed to the Alliance for Nonprofit Management Board of Directors, Alliance executive director and CEO Tangie Newborn announced today.
Ms. Bell is the executive director of CompassPoint Nonprofit Services -- a leading provider of services to nonprofits and philanthropy through consulting, research, and training organizations providing nonprofits with management tools, strategies, and resources to lead change in their communities.
"It's vital that we build the Alliance board with leaders in the sector like Jeanne," said Allen Bromberger, Esq., Alliance Board Chair. "She will bring forth a set of skills that further grow the Alliance in its new strategic direction."
Bell is the co-author of Financial Leadership for Nonprofit Executives: Guiding Your Organization to Long Term Success (Wilder). Her recent CompassPoint publications include Daring to Lead 2006: A National Study of Nonprofit Leadership, Flying Blind: The Impact of the CRECNO Initiative on California Philanthropy, and Securing the Safety Net: A Profile of Community Clinic and Health Center Leadership in California.
"As we continue to build the board leadership it is important that we have expertise in all areas that will allow us to further our mission of improving the management and governance capacity of nonprofits," said Natalie Abatemarco, Alliance Immediate Past Chair and current chair of the Board Leadership Development Committee, which led the search.
With 15 years of nonprofit experience largely in the Bay Area of California, Jeanne recently became CompassPoint's executive director in early 2007 after serving as its associate director for many years. She is also on the advisory boards of the Institute for Nonprofit Organization Management at the University of San Francisco and The Nonprofit Quarterly.
"I am very pleased to be joining an esteemed group of capacity-building colleagues on the Alliance's Board of Directors. I look forward to supporting the Alliance's efforts to grow and develop as an essential professional resource to the diverse field," said Bell. "CompassPoint is a long-time member of the Alliance; as a Board member, I will be particularly interested in the Alliance's responsiveness to the evolving needs of leading-edge management support organizations and nonprofit consulting firms around the country."
