Fieldstone Alliance Exec Appointed to the
Board of Directors of the Alliance for Nonprofit Management
Washington, DC - Carol Lukas, one of the nonprofit sector's leaders on management assistance and publishing, has been appointed to the Alliance for Nonprofit Management Board of Directors, Alliance executive director and CEO Tangie Newborn announced today.
Ms. Lukas is president of Fieldstone Alliance, a national intermediary organization that works to strengthen the nonprofit sector. Fieldstone Alliance has four product lines - consulting, training, publishing, and research - and serves as the home of the Kellogg Action Lab.
"We're really looking forward to having Carol on the team and doing great things together," said Allen Bromberger, Esq., Alliance Board Chair. "She will be an asset as we refine the Alliance's new strategic direction and carry it forward."
Over a distinguished career spanning more than 30 years, Ms. Lukas has been an executive director of nonprofit organizations, a trustee of a community foundation, a consultant within a Fortune 500 company, and a small business owner. She has extensive experience consulting and training for a wide variety of nonprofits, government agencies, private foundations, businesses, and collaboratives.
"We look forward to working with Carol in bringing the Alliance to the next level of success," said Natalie Abatemarco, Alliance Immediate Past Chair and Chair of the Board Leadership and Development Committee.
Over the past years, Ms. Lukas' passion has been focusing on ways to build the capacity of national networks and organizations; while strengthening connections between the public, private, and nonprofit sectors as they address current issues. She is also an author. Her work includes Consulting with Nonprofits: A Practitioner's Guide, and as co-author, Strengthening Nonprofit Performance: A Funder's Guide to Capacity Building, Community Forums: Engaging Citizens, Mobilizing Communities, and A Funder's Guide to Organizational Assessment.
"As a community of capacity building providers we are called upon not just to support change and improvement, but to lead with deep thinking and disciplined action to help the nonprofit sector realize the potential of our communities," said Lukas. "The Alliance for Nonprofit Management and its members can do that. I look forward to working as part of the Alliance Board to strengthen our knowledge, skills, discipline, and resolve to serve in that leadership role for the field."
Ms. Lukas will join newcomer Maria Gutierrez, principal of CamBia Associates and former Vice President for Organizational Development at LISC, who was appointed to the Alliance Board in March 2007.
