Kim Klein of Grassroots Fundraising, Inc. to Deliver Keynote Address at Opening of Alliance for Nonprofit Management Annual Conference

Washington, DC – March 13, 2007  Kim Klein, one of the nonprofit sector's most influential fundraising leaders, will open as keynote speaker at the Alliance for Nonprofit Management's Annual Conference in Atlanta, Executive Director and CEO Tangie Newborn announced today.

Klein is internationally known as a fundraising trainer and consultant in addition to serving as Chardon Press Series Editor at Jossey-Bass Publishers, which publishes and distributes materials that help to build a stronger nonprofit sector.  She is the founder of the bimonthly Grassroots Fundraising Journal and author of Fundraising for Social Change (now in its fifth edition, 2006).  Featured in the e-newsletter Grassroots Fundraising is her fundraising advice column, "Dear Kim."  Klein also has created and partnered in efforts toward inclusiveness in fundraising—such as Grassroots Institute for Fundraising Training and Fundraising Academy for People of Color (with CompassPoint Nonprofit Services).

"We are excited to have Kim join us in Atlanta for our annual conference," said Newborn.  "Many of us have learned great fundraising techniques through her work."

The Alliance conference will take place in Atlanta, July 18-20.  This year's conference theme, "Pathways to Nonprofit Success" will be highlighted in over 45 workshops led by top nonprofit experts and Alliance members such as CompassPoint, Fieldstone Alliance, TCC Group, Interaction Institute for Social Change, TechSoup and Georgia Center for Nonprofits.  Exhibits will showcase new and trusted products for nonprofits, and several new session tracks include: Executive Leadership for Nonprofit and Association Managers, Senior Practitioners, Public Policy and Ethics.  The conference is expected to draw more than 500 nonprofit capacity builders, CEOs, grantmakers and leaders nationwide for three days of intensive learning and networking to build skills and enhance impact.

Klein will speak during the Opening Session, 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 18, at the Westin Peachtree Plaza Hotel.  Widely in demand as a speaker, Kim Klein has provided training and consultation in all 50 states and 20 countries. Other books authored by Klein include: Fundraising for the Long Haul (2000), which explores challenges of older grassroots organizations, Fundraising in Times of Crisis (2004), and, Ask and You Shall Receive: A Fundraising Training Program for Religious Organizations or Projects, Raise Money (2001), which she edited with her partner Stephanie Roth.

"Kim is a terrific speaker! She's very well known and respected," said Allen Bromberger, Esq., Alliance Board Chair and an attorney at Perlman & Perlman, LLP in New York.

Plans for the conference include adding some peachy flavor throughout its program; Southern hospitality for its new members at the first new member reception sponsored by the Westin Peachtree Plaza Hotel – all while taking advantage of Atlanta's rich culture.

"I am looking forward to Kim sharing her insights on this year's theme," said Newborn.  "She definitely has found and led others down a 'Pathway to Nonprofit Success!' "
