ALLIANCE FOR NONPROFIT MANAGEMENT AND THE CENTER FOR SOCIAL LEADERSHIP ANNOUNCE NEW PARTNERSHIP FOR EXECUTIVE NONPROFIT LEADERSHIP CERTIFICATION PROGRAM

Washington, DC – November 28, 2006.  The Center for Social Leadership (CSL) and Alliance for Nonprofit Management (Alliance) have announced a new partnership collaborating on the new Executive Certification Program in Nonprofit Leadership (ECPNL), which will launch in January 2007.

The ECPNL, developed by The Center for Social Leadership, is an interactive course in transformational nonprofit leadership.  Participants will define transactional skills and discuss crucial organizational best practices with a diverse group of nonprofit leaders and capacity builders; and share their success, challenges and insights about how to run an effective nonprofit organization.

"The transformational leader must build on key relationships in such a way that their constituents – donors, staff, board, clients – are motivated and inspired to put in 110 percent toward achieving the organizational mission," said Tony Silard, CSL Founder and Executive Director.  "CSL is proud to have the Alliance partner with us and co-sponsor the ECPNL program."

During a ten-month period (beginning January 2007), the first ECPNL will be opened to nonprofit leaders and capacity builders in the DC metropolitan area.  The 10 half-day classes offer both strategic (leadership) and tactical (skill-building) sessions, including facilitated panels, break-out sessions, case studies, small group work and leadership circles.  It will culminate with a final strategy paper written by each participant on a critical challenge their organization is currently facing and suggested recommendations on organizational development.

In addition, a five-day immersion ECPNL session will be offered June 25-30, 2007 for nonprofit leaders and capacity builders nationwide. The immersion program features a session on cultural competency, which is critical to transformational leadership in the 21st century and an important asset of the Alliance's field-building efforts.

For more information on ECPNL program or to register for either session, please visit us at www.allianceonline.org  or www.socialleaders.org.

"Every day nonprofit leaders deal with the pressures of sustaining an organization and facilitate continued growth and success with empathy," said Tangie Newborn, Alliance Executive Director and CEO.  "To run a high-performance nonprofit requires successful capacity building and good leadership skills.  The ECPNL leadership program will challenge today’s executives and help them to refine best leadership practices for maximum success."
