Release: New Alliance Executive Director Announcement


	June 8, 2006 Dear Alliance Members, The Alliance Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Tangie Newborn as Executive Director of the Alliance. Having recently served as Executive Director of the National Association of Black Journalists, Tangie will replace Founding Executive Director Roni Posner, who is retiring after an eight-year career with the Alliance. After an extensive national search, we are excited to have selected Tangie to lead the Alliance into a new era of expansion and growth. Tangie brings more than 25 years of nonprofit management experience to this assignment. She has led the expansion of several national nonprofits in increasing their memberships, introducing new fundraising strategies, building financial stability and growth, and creating new programs for members. Tangie currently serves as an executive coach for the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) and The Center for Association Leadership™, is an appointed member of the Center's Diversity Committee, and is co-author of Membership Operations, a core competency management series within ASAE. The Board and I look forward to working with Tangie as we embark on an exciting time of growth and change. You will be hearing more about our new plans and initiatives in the days ahead, and we hope you will like what you hear, including a new focus on our membership and new tools and programs to further professionalize the field and help practitioners serve their nonprofit clients more effectively.
