CCI Program

 

The CCI Program

Alliance’s Cultural Competency Initiative strengthens nonprofit capacity building to pay full attention to culture in nonprofit leadership and organizations.  As leaders of social change, nonprofit organizations need access to capacity builders who can help them benefit from the full diversity of their communities, staff and boards.  Specifically, the CCI is:

    1. Researching and documenting culturally-based practices in nonprofit capacity building that support nonprofit leaders and organizations to function more effectively across cultural differences;
    2. Providing training and resources for nonprofit capacity builders and nonprofit leaders to develop the awareness, the will, and the skill to practice cultural competency effectively.

Program Elements include research, publication and dissemination, training and peer exchange, standards and evaluation.

Program Phases include:

Phase I  Conceptualization and Design (June 2003 – April 2005)

Phase II (current phase) Launch and Implementation (May 2005 – July 2007)

Phase III Continuation and Broadening the Scope (January 2007 – July 2008)
