CCI Current Activities: Phase II Timeline

 

Program Launch and Implementation
May 2005 - July 2007

 

A) Cultural Competency Resource Pages are an online resource center with a full range of tools, papers, articles, plus links and other information on cultural competency in capacity building to strengthen nonprofit leadership (May 2005);

B) Initial sessions for focus group-style research and peer exchange, including "peer dialogues"—initially held in San Francisco, Chicago, and Atlanta—and grantmaker roundtables in Chicago and Atlanta (January – March 2006);

C) Development of a logic model, and performance measures and benchmarks, consistent with the CCI's basic theory of change (February 2006);

D) A robust track of conference sessions, plus the first full-day workshop to release findings from CCI research, at the 2007 Annual Conference in Los Angeles (August 2006);

E) A specialized member survey as a "pre-test" on cultural competency awareness and application (July 2006);

F) A framing paper that defines key concepts and provides the context and description of practices showing the need and the positive difference that culturally competent capacity building offers in increasing nonprofit effectiveness (January 2007);

G) Two-day Institutes for in-person learning that goes into depth on the principles and methods of culturally competent capacity building—with core curriculum and a localized training template developed with partner organizations (December 2006; March 2007);

H) Further research and development of subject-specific papers in areas such as coaching, board development, and next generation leadership March 2007 – July 2007);

I) A specialized member survey as a "post-test" on cultural competency awareness and application (June 2007);

J) A robust track of conference sessions, plus the first full-day workshop to release findings from CCI research, at the 2007 Annual Conference in Atlanta (June 2007)

K) An evaluation report on the first two years of the CCI (August 2007)
