Evaluation Training of Trainers

Presenters:  Patrick Corvington, and Veena Keswani, Innovation Network, Inc.

This interactive learning workshop will offer participants tools and information necessary to introduce their clients and partners to evaluation.  It will explain the components of the logic model and evaluation plan and offer strategies for introducing these concepts in organizational development.  [Cost: $50]

 

Facilitating Change Initiatives: Designing Collaborative Action for Organizations and Communities

Presenters:  Cynthia Parker and Courtney Bourns, Interaction Institute for Social Change

Thoughtfully designed, inclusive processes have the potential to be transformative in organizations and communities. This workshop will provide tools and techniques for building consensus within and across organizations to achieve shared goals for community and social change. [Cost: $50]


Utilizing the Standards for Excellence to Strengthen Nonprofits:  An Extended Workshop for Capacity Builders

Presenters:  Amy Coates Madsen and Peter Berns, Maryland Association of Nonprofit Organizations

Participants will learn how to use the Standards for Excellence:  An Ethics and Accountability Code for the Nonprofit Sector to strengthen their nonprofit clients.  Standards clearly and succinctly outline best practices for nonprofit organizations of all sizes and types, and this workshop will go into detail about the standards themselves and how to work with them in practice.  It is recommended that participants read the standards in advance of the workshop, available at www.standardsforexcellence.org/standards_code.htm.  [Cost: $50]

 

Executive Transition Management Services:  A Promising Capacity Building Strategy

This workshop will provide a step by step review of the executive transition management process for working with nonprofit boards in planning for and successfully completing a change in executive director/top staff leadership.  It will offer consultants and management support organization staff proven and practical suggestions on how to develop or expand an executive transition services consulting practice.  [Cost: $50]

 

Interim Executive Directors:  A Special Corps of Nonprofit Capacity Builders

An interim executive director can be the perfect solution for an agency’s temporary leadership needs.  However, due to the short-term and often emergency nature of the interim assignment, many of the skills and techniques required of the interim leader are different than those of the permanent executive.  This workshop will provide training for consultants looking to maximize their capacity-building skills when serving as interim executive directors for local nonprofits.  [Cost: $50]

 

Using Whole-Systems Change Theory to Create Strategic Thinking Boards

Management Support Organizations Executive Directors Affinity Group Meeting

Facilitator:  Peggy Morrison Outon, Bayer Center for Nonprofit Management, Robert Morris University

Alliance member MSO Executive Directors are invited to take part in this dialogue session that will explore possibilities for MSOs to work collectively and to engage in national initiatives to strengthen local and regional MSO portfolios.  The group will also discuss the role of the Affinity Group in meeting the leadership and professional development needs of directors across the country.  This annual gathering offers a rare opportunity for MSO executives to share experiences, be candid about challenges, and to provide collegiality and peer support for this very demanding role.   [No additonal cost, Alliance membership required.]
