The quality of the organizational assessment is a critical factor in creating sustainable organizational health.  This full-day workshop will focus on imparting a basic methodology that can be efficiently performed and still include nonprofit stakeholders in expertly guided self-diagnoses.  It will provide an overview of the research and underlying principles, and will provide models and tips for practice.  Rated 'excellent!' and 'top-notch!' by participants of past workshops, this workshop is a must for any capacity builder interested in strengthening the practical and theoretical underpinnings of their organizational development work.

About the Presenters

Ruth McCambridge, Nonprofit Quarterly
Ruth McCambridge has more than thirty-five years of experience working with community-based nonprofits. She is currently the Editor in Chief of The Nonprofit Quarterly, an innovative nonprofit journal aimed at helping to build the capacity of individual nonprofits and the sector at large. Her work with the Quarterly is part of a larger body of work aimed at building fields of practice within the nonprofit sector. She also serves as strategic advisor to the Alliance for Nonprofit Excellence’s nationally recognized Program for Nonprofit Excellence, advising the program, its consultants and cohort participants in capacity building work.

Ruth was formerly with the Boston Foundation, where she served for 10 years and developed a statewide management assistance program for homeless and battered women's shelters. While there, she also managed the foundation’s Fund for the Homeless and helped launch a number of collaborative-funded capacity building initiatives.

Ruth’s particular expertise includes training consultants to the nonprofit sector in assessment and facilitation, using techniques based on her own research and experience as well as the work of cutting-edge organizational change theorists.

Nancy McGee, Chief Executive Officer of the Alliance for Nonprofit Excellence, has worked with public and nonprofit organizations for over 25 years.  She joined the Alliance (formerly The Grant Center) in 1992, and has led it through an economic and service evolution.
