DescriptionUrban communities face many challenges, and it is essential to address the leadership development needs of community-based nonprofits working to create change in such communities. This session will address strategies to strengthen nonprofit leadership in underserved urban communities, including focus on board development, peer networks, time management and transition planning. Presenters will provide an overview of leadership models, and ways to strengthen leadership, and will facilitate discussion on case studies that incorporate the leadership concepts discussed.

Rachael Coleman-Gibson, Fair Chance
Amanda Marshall, Fair Chance Amanda Marshall is the Founder and Executive Director of Fair Chance, a capacity building organization in Washington, DC focused on strengthening youth serving organizations. She has worked extensively in the nonprofit and grantmaking arenas. Her experience includes positions as a grantmaker at the Robin Hood Foundation, a nonprofit consultant at Jumpstart New York, a marketing and sales manager at K-World UK, a health care consultant at Ernst and Young, Founder and President of a chapter of the nonprofit organization Operation Smile, and most recently, Founder and Executive Director of Fair Chance. Amanda has worked with over a hundred nonprofit organizations including after school, early childhood, job training, education, and survival programs. Amanda received a BA in Economics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. |
