Track: Capacity Building Models and Strategies
Presenters
Paul Connolly and Peter York, TCC Group
Description
A clear definition and model of "organizational effectiveness" is critical to the work of capacity builders and nonprofit organizations alike. Yet, the field has struggled for a long time with how to define organizational effectiveness. This workshop will present the results of TCC Group research on organizational effectiveness and capacity building and will present a research-based framework that identifies four core capacities of nonprofits: leadership, management, adaptive, and technical capacity. The workshop will demonstrate how the framework can be applied to organizational assessment and strategic planning, acknowledging dimensions of organizational culture, lifecycle stages of development, mission and programs, and the resource environment.
