Robert King Kee and Cynthia Parker, Interaction Institute for Social Change
Description
In this workshop, participants will explore the essential principles of the facilitative, interactive trainer. Participants will experiment with three fundamental strategies for delivering high-engagement, high-impact training: sharing responsibility for success with participants; creating content, process, and results satisfaction; and using the learning pathway. Finally, we will explore tools for leading a discussion and telling stories as techniques for creating powerful learning experiences.

Robert King Kee, Interaction Institute for Social Change
Robert King Kee delivers training, consulting and facilitation that foster collaborative processes and support cooperative learning in the nonprofit sector. His passion is supporting organizations and leaders who are working toward greater social justice. Leadership development and Cultural Competency are at the core of his work. Prior to joining IISC, Robert was the Director of Diversity for Starfish Partners where he developed and implemented cultural competency and leadership curricula for non profit organizations specializing in social and economic justice, youth development and various human services. Robert also trained and co-facilitated the Cultural Competency and Leadership Programs for the National Service Leadership Institute of the Corporation for National and Community Service. Robert ran several NY State Americorps after school literacy programs for children and youth and has a rich background in Sociology, Organizational Development, and Race and Ethnic relations. Robert has also served as a social worker for the City of Philadelphia and was a former housing developer for a non-profit organization in New York City. Robert has a fervor for nature and the outdoors. Rollerskating, photography, hiking, exploring National Parks across the globe and triathlons are just a few of his life passions. Robert holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Service from Penn State University, with a concentration in Race and Ethnic Relations. He is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Sociology at Temple University.
Cynthia Parker, Interaction Institute for Social Change
Cynthia Silva Parker is a Senior Associate with the Interaction Institute for Social Change, Cynthia delivers training, consulting, coaching, and facilitation services, leads new product development efforts, and coordinates IISC's internal learning agenda. She has led efforts to build collaborative skills, address specific workplace issues, develop strategic plans and design multi-stakeholder planning processes in a variety of community, nonprofit, and public sector settings. Cynthia's prior leadership experience includes serving as Director for Boston Freedom Summer, the Ten Point Coalition's faith-based youth leadership and community development project and Project Administrator for The Algebra Project, Inc., a nonprofit civil rights and mathematics education reform group with projects across the nation. Cynthia holds a B.A. from Harvard-Radcliffe Colleges, and a Master of City and Regional Planning from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
