Mr. Gerald Solomon joined PHFE Management Solutions (PHFE, formerly known as Public Health Foundation Enterprises, Inc.) as President and CEO in March 2001. Based in Los Angeles, PHFE is one of the nation's oldest and largest nonprofit fiscal sponsors. PHFE provides infrastructure management support, including Program Development, Human Resources, Fiscal Services, and Contract & Grant Management, to government, nonprofit and community-based organizations throughout the United States.
In his tenure as CEO, Mr. Solomon has overhauled PHFE operationally and organizationally, resulting in increases in net revenues and earnings at record levels. As part of the reengineering process, Mr. Solomon developed a new organizational vision including an innovative branding identity to better reflect the organization's purpose, mission and type of services offered, as well as a delivery system based on high performance teams in a web-based environment.
Mr. Solomon currently administers an annual budget in excess of $85 million with funding obtained from diverse sources such as federal, state and local government agencies, as well as from many private foundations on behalf of over two hundred nonprofit and government programs working with PHFE.
Prior to joining PHFE, Mr. Solomon was Executive Director of the San Diego County North Chamber of Commerce where he initiated an aggressive membership development campaign, organized and managed numerous fundraising and special events, created strong collaborative relationships with other community organizations and designed a leadership training module for members and the community. Additionally, from his years as Chief Executive Officer of Adolescent Services & Placement, Mr. Solomon brings his know-how of public relations and marketing, familiarity with government compliance requirements, extensive lobbying experience and talent for volunteer development.
Moreover, Mr. Solomon's eighteen years practice as a civil litigator endows him with the legal acumen necessary to run an organization of PHFE's magnitude. As a trial attorney, Mr. Solomon attained an excellent reputation leading to his serving as a Judge Pro Tem during the latter part of his legal career. Yet another major accomplishment is Mr. Solomon's tenure as City Councilman and Deputy Mayor for City of Santee, California.
Mr. Solomon received his B.A. in Political Science with a Business Administration Minor from Boston University and his Juris Doctorate from California Western University in San Diego, California.
