Since joining Citigroup in 1996, Ms Abatemarco has served in various roles within the Community Relations area.
Recently Ms Abatemarco, based on her accomplishment in developing industry-leading programs within Citibank, broadened her expertise across the Global Consumer Group (GCG) as Director, Global Community Programs, and continues to lead Citigroup's efforts to strengthen existing and developing new GCG strategic community initiatives. In this position, Ms Abatemarco manages a national staff of 15 with grants and sponsorship budget of $15 million dollars. One of her major responsibilities is to create signature programs with organizations such as the National Urban League, and the National Council of La Raza to promote Citigroup's corporate priorities of community development and financial education. Another, signature program that Ms. Abatemarco manages is the Citigroup' Builds Communities program with Habitat for Humanity.
Other responsibilities include working closely with Citigroup Foundation to make national grants and provide oversight and quality assurance for the grant making activities of all Consumer Group businesses. In the performance of her duties, she often consults with such departments as Global Marketing, Government Relations, Public Affairs, and HR Diversity.
In 1999, she served as Director of National Initiatives for Citibank with responsibility to create and enhance Citibank's image nationally. In this capacity, Ms. Abatemarco has worked with many of the country's preeminent nonprofit organizations to develop relationships that included and transcended philanthropy. In this way Citi has been able to deploy its broad range of products and services to help make a difference in communities. Initial partners included LISC, National Development Council, and the Alliance for Nonprofit Management.
Her work demonstrates her creative and organizational ability to work with nonprofits, provide leadership opportunities for Citigroup, and advise the business in how to achieve the maximum community impact.
Prior to joining Citigroup Ms Abatemarco was the executive director and co-founder of a management consulting organization that provides assistance and training in all areas of fundraising and organizational development. During that time she served on the Grants Allocation Committee of the New York Women's Foundation, the Center for Financial Services Innovation, and is an alumni of Columbia University's Institute for Not for Profit Management.
Ms. Abatemarco's nonprofit affiliations include: Chair of the Alliance for Nonprofit Management, Corporate Board of Advisors of the National Council of La Raza, Operation Hope Northeast Regional Board member and Vice-Chair of the Nonprofit Coordinating Committee for New York City.
