The Center for Nonprofit Management

Hedy Helsell received her bachelor's degree in mathematics from Mundelein College in Chicago and her master's degree in counseling from Drake University. With Experience in the educational field and the defense industry, Ms. Helsell has worked in both public and private sector.

As Executive Director of The Center for Nonprofit Management in Dallas since 1987, Ms. Helsell directs an organization which provides management and leadership training, consultation, meeting facilities, information resources and low-interest loans to over 1,000 nonprofit organizations annually across the state of Texas.

Ms. Helsell is a member of the founding board of the Alliance for Nonprofit Management, a national nonprofit association of management support professionals. M Ms. Helsell serves as Vice President of the board of directors of the Texas Association of Nonprofit Organizations, is a member of the board of the Women's Council of Dallas County, and a member of the Associate Board for the Cox Scholl of Business at Southern Methodist University.

Previously Ms. Helsell served as President of the Nonprofit Management Association, Chair of the NMA Management Support Organization Affinity group, and Chair of NMA 1992 national conference. She also served on the Steering Committee for the Applied Research and Development Institute Nonprofit Management and Leadership project, the Evaluation Coalition Steering Committee for Independent Sector and as a trustee for the Pearle Vision Foundation from 1990-1996.

She is a member of the Leadership Texas class of 1998 and a 1985 graduate of the Leadership Dallas program.
