Denice R. Hinden, Ph.D.

Managance Consulting

 

The founder and president of Managance Consulting is Denice M. Rothman, Ph.D. Denice has a M.S. in Human Services from Nova Southeastern University and a Ph.D. in Public Administration from Florida International University.

Prior to opening Managance Consulting, Denice served as Program Director at the Development Training Institute (DTI), Baltimore, Maryland. There she was responsible for designing and implementing Project IMPACT (Improving Management Performance and Capacity Through Training and Technical Assistance), an unprecedented organizational capacity building program with Indianapolis community development corporations (CDCs). She was also served as director and faculty of DTI's Greater Philadelphia Leadership Academy, a management and leadership in community building program for senior staff and emerging leaders of CDCs. Denice designed the curriculum accredited by Eastern College, St. David's, Pennsylvania. Additionally, she convened DTI’s first quality assurance/evaluation planning initiative.

Prior to joining DTI, Denice was Executive Vice President of The Thurston Consulting Group, a firm in Miami, Florida, specializing in nonprofit organization development and evaluation research. There she was responsible for designing and implementing organizational development training and technical assistance for local community development organizations and designing and conducting a variety of program evaluations for health and human service programs. In the early part of her career Denice was Assistant Director of Miami Bridge Youth and Family Services where she coordinated development and construction of a 24-bed emergency shelter for runaway and homeless youth, and assisted in managing a $3 million capital campaign. As the Assistant to the Director of The Miami Sports and Exhibition Authority she did market analysis and bond management for construction of the Miami Arena. Her career in community development and program evaluation began in 1980 as an intern at the Urban League of Harrisburg where she conducted surveys of resident needs in public housing.

Denice's current volunteer activities include a 3-year appointment to the Montgomery County Community Development Block Advisory Board, and Chair of the Alliance for Nonprofit Management McAdam’s Book Award Committee recognizing excellence in nonprofit management literature.
