Bayer Center for Nonprofit Management at Robert Morris University Merges with Executive Service Corps

The Executive Service Corps of Southwestern Pennsylvania will become part of the Bayer Center for Nonprofit Management on July 1, 2004.  The Bayer Center (www.rmu.edu/bcnm) offers consulting, workshops, as well as a masters degree in nonprofit management.  The merger with Executive Service Corps will bring new service offerings, including facilities management, planning, legal referral, and other technical assistance services provided volunteer retired executives and practicing attorneys.

Consultants Judith Plows and Barbara Krasne Join Forces to become KrasnePlows

Judith J. Plows from JP Services Group and Barbara Krasne from BK Services Group, LLC have joined to become KrasnePlows (www.krasneplows.com).  KransePlows is a consulting firm that brings financial, operational and marketing expertise to help nonprofits implement their mission in the most powerful way possible. Using an executive's perspective, it provides practical solutions that link finance, program and mission, while preparing future leaders.

Charity Lobbying in the Public Interest (CLPI) Appoints Liz Baumgarten as Executive Director

Elizabeth M. Baumgarten (Liz) was elected Executive Director of Charity Lobbying in the Public Interest (www.clpi.org) by its Board of Directors on April 2, 2004 and will take the post on July 1. CLPI is a national nonprofit based in Washington, DC.  CLPI promotes, supports and protects nonprofit lobbying and advocacy as a means to achieve philanthropic missions.  She will succeed Bob Smucker, the founder of the organization, who is retiring at the end of June.

Innovation Network Appoints President, Executive Director and Senior Associate

Allison Fine, Innovation Network's Founder, has moved from Executive Director to President.  Patrick Corvington becomes the Executive Director, having previously held the position of Director, Consulting & Training.  Innonet welcomes Heather Peeler as Senior Associate overseeing marketing & outreach initiatives.  Innonet is a Washington, DC-based management support organization dedicated to developing and sharing evaluation tools and know-how with nonprofits and funders, so they can do their work more effectively (http://www.innonet.org/).

Gus Newport Appointed Executive Director of Institute for Community Economics

Gus Newport, Alliance Advisory Council Member, has been appointed Executive Director of the Institute for Community Economics (http://www.iceclt.org/) in Springfield, Massachussetts.  Gus is the former mayor of Berkeley, California, and has spearheaded community-building initiatives as far apart as Boston, West Palm Beach, and Oakland.  He has taught at several higher education institutions, including University of California at Santa Cruz, Portland State University, and graduated from Harvard’s Kennedy School program for public sector leaders.  More recently, served as general manager of radio station KPFA in Berkeley—a 54-year old listener supported station in the progressive Pacifica Foundation network.
