Opened in 1996, the Center for the Arts is a multi-arts teaching and public programming complex located on the campus of the College of Staten Island. Designed by Edward Durell Stone, the CFA offers numerous public performing arts spaces including the Concert Hall (893 seat), Williamson Theatre (430 seat), Recital Hall (150 seat), Lecture Hall (150 seat), Conference Room, and an atrium. This year, the Center for the Arts celebrates its 12th season with performances in music, dance, theater, comedy and family arts through May 2008. The CFA also is home to CSI student and faculty arts events, performances presented by our cultural community partners, and hundreds of rental events staged by the Staten Island community.
Position Description:
The College of Staten Island (CSI), a senior college of the City University of New York, is recruiting for a Director for the Center for the Arts (CFA), a $1M+ public cultural unit of the college, comprised of year-round guest artist presenting series and an extensive rental program.
The Director reports directly to the Vice President for Student Affairs and supervises approximately 4 full-time and 35 part-time staff. The College seeks a candidate with a proven track record of presenting high caliber, innovative artists in enriched multi-arts projects for college and community audiences.
The responsibilities include providing organizational leadership, planning, development, and arts programming to embrace a broader range of artistic genres and types of activities for presentations in the theater spaces and outdoors (this may include residencies, workshops, screenings, festivals, and special projects); directing presenting activity from artist selection and contracting, to overseeing production and administration; developing and cultivating collaborations within the college and external community; overseeing and participate in fundraising efforts including government, corporate, foundation and college support, individual giving and membership; overseeing marketing, publicity efforts, box office operations, financial, personnel, administrative activities, technical and production of presenting program, theater rentals, college facility use, and technology services including hardware, software and web marketing. Salary range: $66,799 - $102,982 commensurate with experience.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree with 8 years related experience required. MBA or MA in Arts Management or related field preferred. Strong background in arts presenting, operations management, and leadership in a college or large arts presenting arena preferred.
