About the Organization:

Background: The purpose of SOC Enterprises is to assist, support, and empower people with disabilities to achieve employment, independence, and integration in the workplace and in the community. In 1959, SOC Enterprises was founded by a group of parents who wanted to create meaningful job opportunities for their children with disabilities. At that time, people with severe disabilities had limited work and community living options. They were more likely to be confined to an institution rather than be employed as a productive member of society. Starting in a storefront operation, SOC provided simple assembly and packaging work for a handful of individuals. Today, SOC Enterprises provides a variety of labor-intensive services to meet both regional and national needs. Each year, SOC employs almost 300 people with disabilities each year who want to learn job skills, become employed, and live as independently as possible. The services SOC provides include:  Comprehensive individualized employment and training services  Printing, assembly, bindery, and mailing services  Contract services: mail distribution, fulfillment, photocopy, and administrative services For more information on SOC Enterprises, please visit http://www.socatwork.org
